Among the numerous innovative products showcased at STYLE Bangkok, a waterless shower offered a unique solution for bedridden patients and people in areas where water is scarce.
STYLE Bangkok, organised by the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, in April, provided a platform for companies from Thailand and beyond to present their latest innovations alongside fashion, furniture, gifts, home décor and other products that are creatively made and beautifully designed.
An innovative healthcare product that stood out due to its functionality and thoughtful design was the soap shower sheet from BRE Cosmetics, which provided an alternative for patients who have extensive wounds or recently underwent surgery, as well as people who are travelling to locations where it is difficult to find shower rooms or clean water.
Chonmanee Chukaew, Product Manager of BRE Cosmetics revealed that the idea for the product came from seeing the way nurses clean bedridden patients today, which is still the same as it was thirty years ago. Thus, the company developed a way for patients to shower without the need for water.
“The soap shower sheet offers a fine lather and a pleasant scent just like taking a shower. There are two sheets in the set, so you can use the ‘lather sheet’ to soap up your skin, then rinse it off with another ‘cleansing sheet.’ It’s very convenient as there is no need for water, towels or soap, and the sheet is dermatologically tested so it will not cause skin irritation,” said Chukaew.
Moreover, Chukaew said the product is environmental friendly as it is made from 100% cotton and also portable for situations such as festivals, military bases, or even during home emergencies where water is cut off due to disasters.
“Most importantly, the product lets caregivers bathe patients, such as the paralyzed or the elderly, with more ease,” said Chukaew. “We also have a lot of customers who play sports and are looking for a way to freshen up before carrying on with other activities, as well as those who use the soap shower sheet on camping trips.”
The product has won the Thailand Green Design Award 2018, guaranteeing its quality and its initiative for water conservation.
Meanwhile, Chukaew revealed that due to increasing demand and interest, the product is now exported to several countries, with distributors in China, Cambodia and Singapore.
