DITP Director-General Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat revealed on December 26 that, according to a market survey carried out by the DITP’s overseas trade office in China, Thai instant noodles are gaining popularity among Chinese consumers, especially flavours such as tom yam, green curry and yentafo.
“Growing consumer awareness of nutrition and health, affected the demand for instant noodles in China,” said Vivatrat. “Now, manufacturers are developing products that answer the changing demands of consumers and hence the market is growing after a five-year slow period, and it is expected that this market will continue to expand in 2018.”
She added that Thai manufacturers should focus on enhancing the quality and diversity of products while exploring new sales channels, such as online platforms.
