Selling Thai OTOP products on Japanese TV Shopping Channel

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak led a delegation of private and public sector executives to the 4th Thailand-Japan High Level Joint Commission meeting in Tokyo from July 17 to 21.

During the trip, Ministry of Commerce representatives had a meeting with Jupiter Shop Channel, Japan’s largest TV shopping channel to discuss further promoting and selling Thai products on the channel.

“The channel has sold several Thai products including silk pillows, aromatic perfumes, Stingray leather bags, jewelry and mangoes, which is very popular with Japanese consumers as about US$898,000 (30 million baht) of Nam Dok Mai mangoes were sold out within one hour,” Minister of Commerce, Sontirat Sontijirawong, said.

The Ministry representatives will work with Jupiter Shop Channel to select high quality OTOP (One Tambon One Product) products as well as gem and jewelry products to be sold through the channel in the future.
