Promoting SMEs through International E-Marketplaces

The DITP held a press conference on February 7 to announce the launch of the ‘Smart Online SMEs Plus’ or ‘S.O.S.+’ project, in which a series of activities to promote SMEs will be held to encourage Thai companies to expand their businesses overseas.

“The S.O.S.+ project is an extension of the highly successful initiative from the previous year that received the prestigious WSIS Prize 2016 in Capacity Building from the International Telecommunication Union or ITU,” DITP Director-General, Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat, said. “The DITP is joining with international e-marketplaces to hold business matching activities for Thai SMEs, with over 1,200 companies expected to join this programme.”

The activities will be held from March 19 to 29 in Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen and Bangkok, with international partners such as eBay, Tmall.com, Gosoko.com, 11Street, Amazon.com and Souq.com meeting Thai SMEs. Thai products that are in particular demand with international consumers are food and beverages, fashion and accessories, home décor and premium OTOP products, the Director-General observed.
