MoC Urges Diamond Businesses to Boost Trade

DITP Director-General Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat has encouraged Thai diamond businesses to take advantage of the rising demand for diamonds on world markets to boost sales and create more opportunities to attract foreign investors to Thailand.

“According to a forecast released by Bain & Co, the diamond market will significantly expand in 2018 due to the comeback of the US market,” the DITP Director-General said on January 12. “To fully benefit from this rise, Thai businesses should use this opportunity to increase their marketing budgets to reach more customers.”

In the first 11 months of 2017, Thailand exported US$1.5 billion worth of diamonds with the top importers being Hong Kong, Belgium, India, Israel and the UAE.
