The DITP’s overseas office in Toronto revealed on May 8 that cricket powder has gained popularity among Canadians because it is rich in protein and fibre, but has a low fat content.
“It is a good opportunity for Thai farmers and entrepreneurs to export insects as a raw material to Canadian food processing manufacturers,” said DITP Director-General Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat. “Thai producers should also export insect-based food products to Canada such as snacks, insect-based powder for making cake and cookies, and ingredients for supplementary food.”
