The Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister, Jurin Laksanawisit held a ministerial discussion via a video conference with Edward Yau, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong, on May 6.

They discussed an invitation for Thailand’s Commerce Minister to deliver a speech at the 6th Belt and Road Summit to be held from September 13 to 14 in Hong Kong. Other issues raised included Hong Kong’s interest in becoming a member of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), and the feasibility study into a Hong Kong-Thailand FTA, which is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.

Thailand’s Commerce Minister said that Thailand will continue to supply Hong Kong with safe and high-quality food products and to promote collaboration on animation and film production between Thailand and Hong Kong. Thailand also would like to welcome tourists from Hong Kong in the post COVID-19 era.
