Ten Thai character creation companies attended the Korea Character Licensing Fair 2019, which took place from July 17-21 in Seoul, South Korea.

“They held business discussions with leading Korean entrepreneurs,” said DITP Director-General, Banjongjitt Angsusingh. “We expect this activity will generate more than 30 million baht (US$968,000) in sales.”

Angsusingh added that in the recent years, several Thai characters, including Worbie Yama, Mamuang, Jay the Rabbit, Bloody Bunny and Shew Sheep, are becoming increasingly recognised in international markets.

According to the Digital Content Association of Thai, in 2018, the number of Thai character creation companies increased by more than 15%, compared to the previous year.
