Europeans prefer healthy food and are ready to pay more for it, according to a recent report from DITP offices in several European countries.
The most popular products include organic food, fair trade products, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free food, coloured rice and meat substitutes, as people are health-conscious.
“Many Europeans know and love Thai food from travelling to Thailand. Once they get back to their home countries, they go to Thai restaurants or buy Thai food from supermarkets or shops selling Asian products,” DITP Director-General, Banjongjitt Angsusingh, said on January 10.
“The best-selling products are Hom Mali rice, noodles, seasoning sauces, chili paste and instant noodles. Moreover, there is constantly a higher demand for ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products in European countries, and this is another opportunity for Thai exporters.”
