DITP Triumphs in Latin American: Generating $11.2 Million Sales
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) achieved remarkable success during its trade delegation to Argentina, Chile and Brazil, which generated overall sales of $11.2 million. As part of this remarkable feat, six newly qualified Thai restaurants were awarded the prestigious Thai SELECT certificate for meeting required standards. Moreover, strategic meetings with buyers, importers and trade associations were also held to foster collaborations, strengthen trade partnerships and facilitate increased orders of Thai products.
Led by Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, Director-General of the DITP, the high-level delegation of Thai business executives visited the three countries from June 29 to July 8 2023, with the purpose of promoting Thai product exports and establishing fruitful trade partnerships. Through productive business matching activities, the delegation secured outstanding trade results in each country.
In Argentina, 18 Thai companies secured 96 successful business matches with 43 Argentinean importers, totalling $7.2 million in overall sales. Similarly, Chile witnessed 18 Thai companies achieving 155 successful business matches with 62 Chilean importers, resulting in $1.7 million of sales. Meanwhile, in Brazil, 19 Thai companies achieved 103 successful business matches with 19 Brazilian importers, generating $2.3 million. These successful transactions underscore the growing interest and demand for Thai products in the Latin American markets.
Moreover, the DITP presented Thai SELECT certificates to two restaurants in Argentina and four in Brazil, honouring their commitment to Thai culinary excellence.
Throughout the visit, fruitful meetings with buyers, importers and trade associations reinforced business relationships and fostered collaborative trade opportunities. Notably, participants expressed heightened interest in procuring Thai products and participating in Thai-hosted trade exhibitions across various sectors. This enthusiastic response has paved the way for promising future business prospects with Thai entrepreneurs in the Latin American markets.
