In a response to the new business environment, the DITP has organised a series of online meetings and exhibitions to promote Thai products and services overseas.
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) organised the first online trade event, Multimedia Online Virtual Exhibition (M.O.V.E) from 25 to 27 May, 2020 to create a virtual business matchmaking platform for Thai digital content entrepreneurs.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has caused various organisations to seek new ways of doing business and to adapt to changes. The department has initiated a virtual trade event to facilitate business between Thai and foreign entrepreneurs at Move.ditp.go.th,” said DITP Director General Somdet Susomboon.
“The event promoted access to high quality information and collaboration among leading entrepreneurs through providing products and services within the film, TV and animation industries,” he added.
Key highlights included business matching activities through a VDO conference, where participants could engage in one-on-one live chat meetings and exchange files and documents. The top five countries to drive traffic to the website were the US, France, Thailand, Vietnam and Germany respectively.
“The event was a great success with a total of 354 online business matching events held with China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore being the top participating countries,” Susomboon said, adding that the online event generated a total revenue of 1.4 billion baht.
DITP has urged the digital content industry to adapt to the current situation and seek opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs to reach out to potential investors, as well as to be ready to move to fresh markets with potential new investors.
In addition, the DITP’s response to the new normal lifestyle has been to organize STYLE Bangkok trade fair via an online platform under STYLE Bangkok Telematching: Lifestyle Online Virtual Exhibition or L.O.V.E from 11 to 14 August, 2020.
To support Thai entrepreneurs in other industries, the DITP will take representatives to attend three trade fairs in China from September to November 2020, namely China International SME Fair, China-ASEAN Expo, and China International Import Expo.
This year’s upcoming DITP trade exhibitions include: THAIFEX – ANUGA ASIA 2020 (22 to 26 September) and the 66th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (7 to 11 September 2020)
DITP in collaboration with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) and the Digital Content Association will also host the Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2020 from 3 to 9 August, 2020. This event will include a series of online activities, including business matching, panel discussions, workshops and award presentations.
